Amazing results at the Zone B Athletics Competition
On 2 March 2022,
this year's "Zone B" athletics competitions took place at the
Independence Stadium in Windhoek.
28 DHPS athletes had entered in 57
disciplines. An intensive preparation phase began immediately after the summer
holidays on 24 January.
On the big day, all
participants were in a good mood, enthusiastic and very ambitious. Even
organisational inconsistencies and a 3-hour delay in the schedule could not put
them off.
Among the many good
results, the following performances stood out:
Ronja Fechter with
1.45 m in the high jump and 4.37 m in the long jump, both of which earned her 1st
place in the girls under 15 category. This qualified her for the regional
competitions.
Nicole Redecker
achieved another victory in the girls under 19 category with 2:51,06 min. in
the 800 m sprint.
Second places in their
age groups went to Zachary Philander in the long jump with 5.59 m and 11.44 s in
the 100m sprint, David Mukuyu in the long jump with 5.99m and Edo Daun also in
the long jump with 5.21 m.
Third places went to
Justus Beulker in the 5000m run which he covered in 19.27 min , Edo Daun in the
high jump with 1.57 m, Vaanisa Mieze in the 800 m run which she finished in
2:55,19 min., Uemumuna Mieze in the long jump with 4.19 m and the 200m sprint
which she covered in 27.78 s and Pandera Katipuka who reached 11.35 m in the
shot put.
Further placements in
the top 8 spur the learners on to further practice. Thanks and compliments to
all participants who represented DHPS so successfully.
