On 19 and 20 February 2025, learners from grades 9 to 12 were able to take part in a simulation of
the German Bundestag elections.
This gives them the opportunity to
experience and understand democracy firsthand. Learners get a sense of what it
means to actively participate in a democracy.
The youngest participants in the elections
are the grade 9 learners. In advance, they studied the election campaign in
Germany and examined the policies of different parties in detail.
The election process was organised by the
Model United Nations (MUN) extra-mural group, which was responsible for forming
an election board and overseeing the process.
A
voter register has been created and all classes and courses have received
election notifications. Voting booths and a ballot box have been set up in the
media room.
During two breaks each day, members of the
MUN guided learners through the voting process and carefully recorded voter
turnout. The participation has been very good.
The election was conducted using official
ballots from the Berlin-Mitte 074 constituency, provided by the Federal Agency
for Civic Education. All German schools abroad voted in this constituency.
Our MUN team has counted the ballots and the results will be sent to
Berlin.
Thank you to our Model United Nations Team and the
Political Studies Department!
